Plumbing in Bradley Stoke
Bradley Stoke was planned in the late 1970s and building started in 1987, making it one of the youngest towns around Bristol. It is in South Gloucestershire, north of Filton and next to Patchway and Stoke Gifford, and takes its name from the Bradley Brook and the Stoke Brook. The Willow Brook Centre is its main shopping area, and the Three Brooks nature reserve, with its lake and woodland, runs through the middle of the town. The town grew quickly as a commuter base, and the M4 and M5 are both a short drive away. Aztec West and the aerospace employers in Filton and Patchway are close by, and Cribbs Causeway is only a few miles west.
Nearly all the housing dates from the late 1980s onwards, and a high share of it is detached, alongside semis, terraces and flats. Homes of this age usually have plastic waste pipes, more modern drains and often more than one bathroom, so their plumbing is simpler to work on than in a Victorian terrace. Even so, the first houses are now well over thirty years old, and original parts are wearing out: toilet valves, tap cartridges, shower mixers and the seals around en-suite shower trays. A slow leak from a shower tray can soak into a floor or ceiling below for months before it shows, so a stain or a soft patch of floor is worth checking quickly.
Common Bradley Stoke jobs
- Leaking shower trays and en-suite seals
- Worn toilet fill and flush valves
- Blocked kitchen and bathroom waste
- Heating pressure loss and radiator valves
- Replacing original taps and mixers
Homes due their first big refit
Many Bradley Stoke houses are reaching the point where the original bathroom or kitchen is due for replacement. That is a good time to fit isolating valves on every tap and toilet, check the condition of the waste pipes, and move or upgrade anything that has caused trouble. If you’re adding a toilet or shower somewhere without an easy route to the soil pipe, a macerator may help. We do the bathroom plumbing, and the gas and electrical work needs the right trades alongside us. We’ll talk through the waste route and pipe runs before work starts, so there are no surprises once the old suite comes out.

Bradley Stoke plumbing questions
My house isn’t that old. Why is it leaking?
Fittings like shower tray seals, valves and push-fit joints wear out over time. A home built thirty or more years ago has had plenty of use, and hard water speeds that up.
Do you cover all of Bradley Stoke?
