Under the sink

A damp cupboard under the sink is usually a trap joint that has slipped, a perished washer, or a flexible tap connector starting to fail. Catch it early. A connector under mains pressure can let go suddenly. If you can see a slow drip, put a tray under it, turn off the isolation valves on the tap feeds, and call us.

New kitchens

If you’re having a kitchen fitted, agree the plumbing plan before the units arrive: sink position, dishwasher and washing machine locations, and the route for the waste. The water supply can go almost anywhere, but the waste needs a route and enough fall to reach the drain. We can do the plumbing side and work around your kitchen fitter.

Grease and blocked sinks

Most kitchen sink blockages are fat and food waste. Fat goes down warm and liquid, then sets further along the pipe and catches everything after it. Wiping pans with kitchen roll before washing them makes a big difference. If the sink is slow, clearing the trap is often enough. If several drains are slow, the problem is further down.
